BRANTA -

BRANTA ... now berthed in Blaine Washington. This was the very first Nautilus 40 ...built in 1979 ...I believe.


BRANTA ... Bowsprit & anchor roller


BRANTA ... stern swim ladder


BRANTA ... skeg-hung rudder ..the only Nautilus that has ... the rest all have balanced spade rudders


BRANTA ... in winter storage


BRANTA ... cockpit helm ... manual hydraulic steering


BRANTA ... companionway sliding hatch with louvered lockable companionway doors ... aft window shades


BRANTA ... 12 volt solar panel and mainsheet traveler in front of companionway slide on pilothouse deck


BRANTA ... mast is a HOOD Stoway mast with furling winch inside the front of the mast at the gooseneck. ( the winch handle stuck in can be seen here ) Last versions of this mast allowed mainsail furling to be done remotely


BRANTA ... the mainsail furling winch is mounted internally at the front of the Hood mast, at the level of the gooseneck.


BRANTA ... inside pilothouse ... looking aft ... port & starboard single berth/settees (shown with backrests and leeboards up) and p & s wet lockers. The Volvo diesel sailddrive is under the floor (rug)


BRANTA ... pilothouse ... 3 cyclinder Volvo diesel saildrive under floor ... individual cyclinder heads.

BRANTA ... pilothouse ... port side navigaiton chair shown in lounging down position ... chart table with chart storage are outboard. Dinette table shown foreward.

BRANTA ... dinette ... heater with chimey shown just aft of mast. Aft dinette seat houses a Grunert freezer


BRANTA ... U-shaped galley ... with top-loading Grunert refrigeration and dry food locker aft


BRANTA ... head ... manual Wilcox-Crittenden toilet pumps to holding tank ... oval ss sink with hot & cold pressure water.

BLUE HERON ... MPS in light air.



BLUE HERON ... Interior helm station to starboard and nav. station to port ... both the helm chair & the nav. chair are in the down, or lounging position. In the 'UP' position, both chairs give a clear view foreward through the windshield.


BLUE HERON ... port side wheelhouse ... aft lounging swivel chair with navigation chair in down position ... the table between folds flush against the port side cabinets.




BLUE HERON ... looking foreward ... dinette to port and galley to starboard. Centre line deep sink allows a secure postion while working in galley. The microwave above the stove was not original equipment.




BLUE HERON ... head with shower to port side ... former hangin locker now houses the washer-dryer. Draawers underneath.

This was the last Nautilus 40 built. It was also the only 2nd built by Aztec Yachts.

N40- #? _ Starboard side settee makes a long 6ft-6in singel berth. The wet lockers are accessed by lifting the lee board/settee cushion.




















N40- #? _ The port side settee/berth is shown here with the backrest folded under the side decks and hard lee board up, making a great seaberth for heavy wheather. Both port and starboard settees covnerth in this manner.
























N40- #? _ Inside helm chair ... shown in up steering position ... teak footrest on bulkhead. Chair drops to lower lounge position.




















N40- #? _ Electrical panel to starboard ... beside the helm chair


N40- ? _ Perkins 4 cycl Diesel under pilothouse floor ... looking foreward






















N40- ? _ galley on starboard side ... looking foreward. This galley had a vented range hood made of teak lined with s.s. as original equipment. I do remember that as the original owner's request ... but who was he.
